Google`s Logo HISTORY: Search Engine Has Changed The Design

Back in 1998, Google`s logo was followed by an exclamation point, and the site offered the option to search only terms. At that time, Google has indexed 25 million pages, while currently in 2015 it indexes a thousand times more which means 25 billion (source Dailymail.co.uk).

Multiple popular websites from entire world like Facebook, Google or Amazon, have radically changed appearance over time.

1995-1997

1995
• Larry Page and Sergey Brin meet at Stanford. Larry, aged 22, graduated of the University of Michigan, is interested in the university, and Sergey, aged 21, is designated to serve as a guide.

1996
• Larry and Sergey have started to work at developing the BackRub search engine. It worked on Stanford servers for more than a year, until has exceeded the bandwidth.

1997
• Google.com domain was registered as on September 15. The name Google is a play on words from 'googol', a mathematical term for the number represented by the number 1 followed by 100 zeros and embodies the mission of Larry and Sergey, that of organizing a quantity seemingly infinite information on the Internet.

1998

April
• Larry launches Google Friends Newsletter, sent monthly for keeping the fans up to date about the company. (Meanwhile, they renounced at Google Friends Newsletter for Blogs, Google+ and other methods for submission news.)

Aug.
• The Co-founder of the company Sun, Andy Bechtolsheim, writes a check for 100,000 dollars to a company that did not exist yet, called Google Inc.
• Before leaving the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert, Larry and Sergey included the famous character in logo. Thus,users knew where Google`s team will be in the coming days. It was their first doodle.

September
• On September 4, Google applies for registration in California. Larry and Sergey open a bank account in the name of newly founded company and deposited the check received from Andy Bechtolsheim.
• Google is setting its workspace in Susan Wojcicki's garage at Santa Margarita Ave., Menlo Park, California.
• Larry and Sergey co-opts their first employee. Craig Silverstein was their colleague at Stanford and will work at Google for ten years before joining the debutant company in education, Khan Academy.

1999

February
• The headquarters of the garage becomes too normal, so they're moving in a new house at 165 University Avenue in Palo Alto, with only 8 employees.

April
• Yoshka, their first dog of the company, comes to work with their vicepresident of operations, Urs Hölzle.

May
• Omid Kordestani joins them to handle sales and is the eleventh employee in Google. Ten years later, Omid withdrew from his active role in the company and became a senior adviser.

June
• Their first press release announces a round of funding worth $ 25 million from Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins. John Doerr and Michael Moritz join the board.

• They move into their first office in Mountain View, 2400 Bayshore. Mountain View is a few km south of Stanford University, and north of the older towns of Silicon Valley: Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose.

• They win their first Webby Award: Technical Achievement (according to the jury`s vote) and Peoples' Voice (according to the votes of users).
• Google launches a series of doodles with a normal alien. It is their first series of doodles.
• Google.com is launched in the first ten languages: French, German, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian and Danish. Today, the search is available in over 150 languages.
